Speyside , llamado así por el río que lo atraviesa, es una de las cinco regiones productoras de whisky de Escocia . Técnicamente parte de las Tierras Altas, el área alberga el mayor número de destilerías , lo que ha llevado a ser tratada como una región en sí misma.

La proliferación de destilerías en Speyside se debe tanto a la presencia del río Spey como a la inaccesibilidad del área. En los siglos XVII y XVIII, el whisky fue de hecho muy gravado por la Corona y la zona montañosa impermeable alrededor del río Spey, rica en fuentes de agua , era el lugar ideal para producir whisky y escapar del control de las autoridades.
