Falanghina

Falanghina one of the most popular white grape varieties in Campania . Its origins remain mysterious and it cannot be excluded that it is a grape variety introduced in Italy during the first Greek colonization. Over the centuries, the most suitable areas have proved to be the volcanic area of Campi Flegrei and the hilly and mountainous region of Sannio . Two areas that also house two slightly different clones.

The name seems to derive from the term " falanga " which indicated the support poles used for the cultivation of the vine . The vine has a good vigor and productivity, it prefers poor soils of volcanic and tufaceous matrix. For a long time it was considered only a simple wine, also because of a cultivation with high yields, which diluted and depersonalized its characteristics. Today, thanks to viticulture based on quality, Falanghina has established itself as one of the most interesting white wines in Southern Italy . The wine expresses aromas of good intensity with a prevalence of notes of ripe fruit and tropical fruit. The sip is fresh and flowing with a lively acidity.
