Tormaresca

Tenuta Tormaresca represents the Apulian face of the historic Tuscan company Antinori. At the end of the 90s, after a trip to Puglia, the Marquis Piero Antinori was so fascinated by the territory and the potential of this corner of southern Italy, that he decided to invest by purchasing an estate. The oenologist Renzo Cotarella would have helped him. The Tormaresca estate covers a total of about 640 hectares, divided into two farms: Bocca di Lupo and Masseria Maime . The Bocca di Lupo estate is located in the countryside of Minervino Murge, in the Castel del Monte area , at about 300 meters above sea level and covers about 140 hectares. The cool climate , characterized by considerable temperature variations, proved perfect for the cultivation of many varieties, including: Aglianico, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Fiano, Moscato Reale and Nero di Troia. Masseria Maime is instead located in the heart of Salento , along the Adriatic coast and covers about 500 hectares, 350 of which are vineyards, cultivated between woods and olive groves, on terrains of a mainly limestone matrix. This is the undisputed kingdom of the two great Apulian reds: the primitivo and the negroamaro to which the Fiano is added.

Among the best wines of the estate, we recommend the Castel del Monte DOC Tormaresca Chardonnay Pietrabianca , a white with an international profile produced in the Minervino Murge area with chardonnay grapes and a small percentage of fiano. Vinification in French oak barriques, with malolactic fermentation, gives a wine with an intense and ripe fruit, accompanied by soft honeyed and pastry notes, which stretch towards a balanced and harmonious finish.

Among the reds, the Salento IGT Primitivo Tormaresca Torcicoda represents an interpretation of this great Apulian grape variety very faithful to the territory. It is a warm and Mediterranean wine, with a soft, fruity and delicately spicy profile.

Salento IGT Negroamaro Tormaresca Masseria Maime is a particularly intense version of Negroamaro, also thanks to a slightly late harvest, with overripe grapes in the plant. Aging for 12 months in barrique contributes to enhancing the persuasive face of the wine, which expresses above all aromas of ripe red fruit, hints of vanilla and oriental spices. Finally, the top red of the estate: the Castel del Monte DOC Aglianico Tormaresca Bocca di Lupo. It is a pure Aglianico which is marketed after a long period of aging, first in French oak barrels and then in the bottle. It is a complex, rich and intense red, perfect to combine with roasted red meats or game.
