A vine probably of Middle Eastern origin, it is in Burgundy that Chardonnay experienced its maximum evolution, becoming, also by virtue of its unique adaptability, one of the most widespread grape varieties in the world. The wines obtained from Chardonnay grapes are striking for the elegance perceptible on the nose, in which notes of raspberry, vanilla, tropical fruits, peach, tea and rose petals predominate, and for that fascinating mix of alcohol content and light sweetness that combines well to its fresh acidity that conquers the palate.

Among the regions of Italy where Chardonnay has settled particularly well are Friuli Venezia-Giulia, Veneto, Tuscany and Trentino-Alto Adige. The reference wine area for the production of white wines based on Chardonnay grapes remains Chablis, the cradle of soft and rounded whites that stand out for their marked freshness and minerality.
