Rum

Originally from the Caribbean, rhum is a liquor generally obtained by the distillation of fermented cane molasses , often flavored with herbs to enrich its aromatic profile. Almost colorless when young, as it matures it takes on a yellow to brown color, sometimes helped by the addition of caramel.

Based on the origin, one can distinguish the rhums from Jamaica, Cuba, etc. The rhum of the French Antilles, Agricole , obtained from the juice of sugar cane and produced on the islands of S. Bartolomeo, Guadalupe, Les Saintes and Martinique, deserves special attention.

Rhum agricole are more complex, with floral and fruity scents that, with aging, are enriched by the aromas of the wood. These are particularly structured and complex distillates, better suited to aging and boasting the designation of controlled origin.

Ideal to serve straight in the glass, in the blanco version rhum is the basic ingredient in various cocktails and long drinks .
