Rubbia al Colle
Discover the new Fred, the red to drink cold
The Rubbia al Colle estate is located in Suvereto, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma. The name derives from a unit of measurement from the past. The main objective of the company, which has influenced the choice of the territory in which to settle, is to bring Sangiovese back to the world wine scene, without forgetting the famous international vines that have always been vinified in the area.
From this estate was born what today everyone calls symbiotic viticulture. In 2008 the "Cellar that doesn't exist" was officially inaugurated, which soon became famous because it was not visible on the outside, having been built under the hill of Podere Poggetto alle Pulledre.
Among the wines of the estate, the most characteristic is the "Barricoccio", which takes its name from the container in which it ages: a terracotta barrique, an ancient material used in the past by the Etruscans who populated the area, made with four hands with the Masini Furnace of Impruneta in Florence. In Barricoccio the Sangiovese of the estate matures with "its lie" in a continuous but slow movement guaranteed by the shape of the container at a very constant temperature. This happens throughout the year because terracotta is an insulating material capable of maintaining the typical fruity characteristics of Sangiovese.
