Pacherhof
The pioneer of wine in the Isarco Valley
The Pacherhof is located in Novacella, near the municipality of Varna, on a sunny slope above Bressanone. The first documents date back to 1142, even before Bishop Hartmann founded the abbey of Novacella.
Josef Huber, who had married Pacher's daughter in 1849, taking up the legacy of his father-in-law, is considered one of the pioneers of wine in the Isarco Valley: during countless exploration trips he experimented with various qualities, gaining the awareness that Sylvaner, Pinot Grigio and Gewürztraminer they were the ideal varieties for the very steep terrain and slopes of the valley. Josef Huber was also the first to plant the Kerner vines. At first scarcely considered, but subsequently taken up by many, these varieties of vines are still the visiting card of the wine growers of the Isarco Valley. Today it is Josef Huber's great-grandson, Andreas Huber, who manages the Pacherhof estate.
The Pacherhof vines boast the production of dry wines, characterized by a marked minerality and intense fruity notes that contain all the characteristics of the vine, the soil and the particular microclimate of the Isarco Valley.
