Born in 1935, after middle school Michele Chiarlo manages to get enrolled, "provided he is always promoted", to the oenological school of Alba , where he will have as future students of Italian enology his fellow students : Renato Ratti, Ezio Rivella, Franco Ziliani, Giuliano Noè and Giacomo Tachis. Michele will begin his adventure as a wine producer in 1956, trying his hand at the first vintage of Barolo in 1958 , when this wine was still almost unknown.

The success of his wines allows him over the years to select the best plots of Langhe, Gavi and Monferrato, up to acquire some of the most prestigious cru of Barolo and Barbaresco . In the meantime, he works unceasingly to raise the quality of Barbera , which will culminate in the acquisition of the La Court estate , destined to become the "Chateau" of the Nizza denomination . This is where the Barbera d'Asti Superiore "Cipressi" was born , recently placed at the top of the TOP 100 of 2018 by the Wine Enthusiast magazine and the LaCourt Reserve (Tre Bicchieri Gambero Rosso)
