Marzadro - From the single grape grappa to the Eighteen Moons

The history of the Marzadro distillery begins in the immediate post - war period in Nogaredo from the intuition of Sabina Marzadro who dreamed of distilling grappa using the pomace that populated the courtyards of the winemakers' houses. Sabina was soon joined by the skill of her brother Attilio, already an expert farmer. In 1949, the first real distillation of grappa began from the carts of pomace from the local winemakers, to which Sabina liked to add hints of wild alpine herbs such as nettle, juniper or mugo, which she used to hand pick all the days. In 1960, in the midst of the development of the distillery, Sabina left the reins of the company to her brother Attilio, who with his wife Teresa and subsequently his six children, continued the production of grappa and in 1975 had a great intuition: single-variety grappa . The experimentation in the Marzadro house does not stop here and in 2002 "Le Diciotto Lune" was born, the most successful interpretation of the meditation grappa . Obtained from the distillation in Bain-marie in discontinuous alembic still of the best pomace of Trentino grapes , it refines in small barrels of Cherry, Ash, Oak and Robinia which each give their own characteristics of perfume, aroma, color and flavor. The Master Distiller follows its maturation for 18 months until reaching the ideal blend and full harmony between wood and grappa.
