Laphroaig

At the beginning of the 19th century, Donald and Alexander Johnson, who arrived in Islay to raise cattle, took over a 400 hectare plot, whose name, Laphroaig, could derive from the Gaelic "the valley along the bay". From the surplus of barley used for breeding, the two brothers began to distil a whiskey highly appreciated on the island thanks to the source of particularly peated water .

More than 200 years after its birth, which officially took place in 1815, Laphroaig still presents itself today as the richest of peat meats . The most classic 10-year version is part of the prestigious range; the "Select", which ages in a special selection of European and American barrels; the "Quarter Cask", whose final aging takes place in small barrels; and the "Lore" , the result of a blend of whiskeys aged from 7 to 21 years, recently elected the best No Age Statement Scotch of 2019 by the specialized guide Whiskey Bible.
