Francesco Bellei
The "Champagne" of Modena
Founded in 1920 in Bomporto, in the province of Modena, the Francesco Bellei winery bases its corporate philosophy on the practice of traditional winemaking, with bottle fermentation. The passion for wine and a great ability to understand and taste it have meant that the cellar produced, in addition to the traditional Lambrusco, also other Classic Method bubbles.
In the 70s, in fact, the then owner Giuseppe Bellei, convinced that he had discovered several points in common between Champagne and Lambrusco , undertook study trips to France that led him not only to vinify the first Lambrusco with the champenois method , but also to select French clones of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for their vineyards, from which the current cuvées will be born.
Among these, in addition to Brut sans année, the Cuvée Blanc de Noirs Brut (4 Grappoli Bibenda) , produced in limited quantities exclusively with Pinot Noir grapes, the Cuvée Rosé (4 Grappoli) , from Lambrusco di Sorbara, or the Special Cuvée "Francesco" , a skilful blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
