Founded in 1892 in the Piedmontese municipality of Canelli, the Coppo company is today one of the oldest wineries in Italy. The origins of the company are linked to the figure of Piero Coppo, progenitor of the family, founder of the company and husband of Clelia Pennone, heir of the ancient cellars of the homonymous family company, which allows her husband to expand the Canelli cellar, merging the two structures. It is 1913 and Coppo becomes the owner of the famous "Underground Cathedrals" , so called to be dug into the tuff under the ground and for the characteristic barrel vaults that recall those of the churches, recognized in 2014 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site .

The company, now entrusted to the fourth generation of the family, with Massimiliano and Luigi, boasts the production of the most typical red wines of Piedmont : Barbera- based wines, of which the family values their importance, becoming "standard bearer of its rebirth " . The first Barbera of the company, Pomorosso , was born in 1984, and immediately became a label awarded by some of the most important Italian guides: the Gambero Rosso and the Gold Guide of Veronelli wines. A little later, Camp Du Rouss or the Nizza Riserva della Famiglia , which was awarded Super Three Stars Veronelli for two consecutive years, including the current year, are joined by this.
