Chilean wines

The history of Chilean viticulture begins in the 16th century, when Spanish colonizers introduced the vine to the country. Since then, Chile has developed a distinctive wine production, taking advantage of its ideal climate and the variety of its landscapes. The grapes thrive in the sunny valleys, where the influence of the Pacific Ocean and the Andes creates perfect conditions for viticulture. Among the main wine-growing areas of the country, the Central Valley stands out, which includes the sub-regions of Maipo, famous for its Cabernet Sauvignon, Rapel, and Maule, the Colchagua Valley, renowned for its intense and structured red wines, and the Casablanca, famous for its aromatic and refined white wines. Carménère, once believed to be extinct in Europe, has become Chile's iconic grape variety, representing a unique expression of Chilean terroir. Other grape varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc, have adapted beautifully to local conditions, resulting in high-quality wines.
