The Maison Charles Heidsieck takes its name from its founder, a wine merchant famous for popularising Champagne in the United States, where he earned the nickname 'Champagne Charlie', as well as being the protagonist of a diplomatic incident due to his arrest during the American War of Secession.

Legend has it that, having been sentenced to death, Charles expressed his last wish to share a glass of Champagne with his executioners, who would waive the sentence, won over by the gesture and the quality of his wine.

The Champagnes of the Maison Charles Heidsieck fully embody the spirit of its founder: a visionary and innovative gentleman, a lover of beauty and timeless elegance, whose ambition was the driving force behind the bold choices that helped define the style that characterises these refined cuvées.

The Brut Réserve (91 pts Wine Spectator) is a round, creamy, fresh, harmonious style that is always the result of a skilful balance between the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes from the region's best crus. It takes on greater richness and uniqueness than other champagnes due to the use of a high proportion of reserve wines and a longer than average maturation that takes place in the Maison's characteristic chalk crayeres (quarries), situated 20 m below the surface.

The Brut Rosé Réserve version (95 pts Decanter) is prized for its sophisticated powdery pink colour with wild rose hues. The nose opens with a subtle yet complex bouquet, with aromas of jammy strawberry and peach, enriched by elegant notes of gingerbread and cinnamon. The sip is seductive and full of character, offering an explosion of fruity scents reminiscent of raspberry and blackberry, accompanied by velvety hints of whipped cream.
