Founded in 1776 as Dubois Père et Fils, the Maison was inherited in 1833 by Louis Roeder , who gave it his name. With its 240 hectares of owned vineyards located exclusively in the Grand Cru and Premier Cru of the Marne, Louis Roederer is one of the few independent Champagne houses, continuously managed by the same family , now in its seventh generation.

The maison owes its fame to the creation of Cristal, which in fact represents the first " Cuvée de Prestige " in the history of Champagne; the label, enclosed in a precious crystal bottle, from which the name was in fact conceived and produced in 1876 to satisfy the demanding tastes of Tsar Alexander II of Russia .
