Capezzana
A parchment dated 804 testifies that already 1200 years ago in Capezzana olive trees and vines were cultivated for the production of oil and wine.
In the early Renaissance a woman, Monna Nera Bonaccorsi, built the first "house for Lords" and nine farm houses with the relative vineyards; it was 1475. Other generations and families took turns in ownership of the estate and then arrived at the Contini Bonacossi family in 1920.
Today, the fourth and fifth generation of this same family successfully manage Capezzana Estate, divided into 3 farms and more than 120 estates, dedicated to the production of high quality wine and oil. The production philosophy starts from the earth which is worked in a simple, sound and healthy way: it is produced organically, in full respect of nature.
The result is an exceptional and typical wine, which smells of the land from which it is born. Examples of this are, among others, the Carmignano Villa di Capezzana , mainly produced with Sangiovese and Cabernet grapes, characterized by an intense deep ruby color, with violet hints. The nose opens with an elegant alcoholic note, enriched by pleasant spicy hints. On the palate it is intense, with aromas of ripe fruit, black cherry and raspberry. And, again, Ghiaie della Furba , produced with Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot grapes, which offers simple but intense aromas of fruit and spices to the nose. In the mouth it is soft, structured and of great volume, with tannins with a dense and sweet texture, acidity in balance with the structure. The aftertaste is persistent with taste sensations of small red fruits of the undergrowth combined with spicy notes.
