Located in Oria, in the heart of the Salento peninsula , Masseria Altemura is inserted in the context of the defensive garrisons that even before the arrival of Hannibal were intended to protect the colonists from the assaults of the brigands . The estate takes its name from the massive fortified tower erected during the Aragonese domination of the 16th century, which was subsequently used to send messages through racing pigeons. The fine frescoes in the private chapel date back to the same period.

The estate is surrounded by 130 hectares of vineyards, which are accompanied by the perfect geometry 40 hectares of secular olive trees which have their roots in the red earth mixed with white limestone blocks and which still continue to bear fruit and fold their silvery foliage following the breezes marine.

Masseria Altemura produces great excellences from the native vines of Puglia, which express strength and elegance as a sort of imprinting of the Salento area .
