Alta Langa

Alta Langa DOCG represents one of the best excellence of the Italian Classic Method sparkling wine.

It is a rather small area , with a limited production of bottles , but of great tradition and very high quality . The vineyards are grown in the hilly areas of strong wine-growing vocation located in the provinces of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria at an altitude of between 200 and 600 meters above sea level. The cool climate, the noticeable temperature fluctuations and the soils made of calcareous-clayey marl are perfect for producing excellent sparkling wines .

The specification defines the ampelographic base for white sparkling wine (also reserve), rosé sparkling wine (also reserve) in a minimum of pinot noir and / or chardonnay of 90%. Other non-aromatic grapes can compete, authorized in the Piedmont region for a maximum of 10%. The bottles must stand on the lees for a minimum period of 30 months and 36 for the reserve version. Unlike other classic method sparkling wines, Alta Langa is produced only in large vintages because it can only be vintage: in fact, there is no Alta Langa without the indication of vintage .
