Caggiano, Fiano Di Avellino
A masterpiece of artistic architecture is offered to the viewer among large boulders of stone, arches and large vaulted ceilings: it is the will of Antonio Caggiano, who in 1990 makes a bet: to bring back the ancient aromas and vanished flavors of Taurasi wine, which lives in barrique surrounded by relics of viticulture, we can say, an oenological museum. Today the company is run by Giuseppe, Pino per gli amici, son of Antonio, who, helped by his father, through a painstaking work in the vineyard, and a passionate as well as rigorous enological review, has raised the qualitative spirit of Irpinia wine.
Fiano di Avellino DOCG is one of the most ancient white wines of southern Italy. The production area is located in the territories surrounding the city of Avellino, a hilly and mountainous area with a cool climate, perfect for growing white berried grapes. The ampelographic base is defined in a minimum of 85% of fiano, with a possible 15% of greco and/or coda di volpe bianco and/or trebbiano toscano.
Fiano di Avellino DOCG is an elegant, intense and complex wine, with good structure and aromatic persistence. It is a white with a good propensity to ageing with an evolution towards interesting tertiary notes.
