Livon, Ribolla Gialla
Livon has a history of over fifty years which has made its founder Dorino Livon one of the most successful and well-known winemakers in Friuli. This is a story of family, tradition and passion for wine, accompanied by an extreme, unconditional love for Friuli , in particular for that piece of land that represents the last bastion of Italy towards Eastern Europe: the Collio and the Eastern Hills of Friuli. The first vineyard was purchased by Dorino in 1964, it is the beginning of a dream, which becomes concrete over time with the purchase of other plots and the creation of a real farm.
Livon wines
At the beginning of the Eighties the Livon company experienced a real rebirth, thanks to the entry into the company of Dorino's two sons, Valneo and Tonino, who were the first to decide to create two lines of bottles, a Cru line obtained from the selection of best grapes, destined to develop in an important way in the bottle and created to satisfy connoisseurs and enthusiasts of great wines. For these wines the large selection in the vineyard, with the reduction of the quantity obtained per hectare, the thickening of the existing vineyards and the planting of new vineyards with a high number of vines per hectare is only the beginning of a long and complex path . The Livon brothers created two cellars to create these precious nectars, the "Masarotte" cellar, where the white wines mature in barrique, and the "Vencò" cellar, destined for aging, both in barriques and in barrels, of all Red wines. The Livon brothers' road is studded with successes, to the point that the two decide to buy four farms: the Friulian Villa Chiopris and Tenuta Roncalto, the Borgo Salcetino farm in the Chianti Classico area and the Fattoria Colsanto in the Montefalco DOCG.
Livon White Wine
White wine has always been the protagonist in Livon, with the great international vineyards such as Sauvignon Blanc , Chardonnay , Traminer and Pinot Bianco , but also with native grapes such as Ribolla , Friulano and Malvasia . The fruity and complex aromas of these wines anticipate a pleasure that becomes velvety and persuasive on the palate, with a long and exciting finish. Great wines perfect for those who love soft and structured, rich and complex whites, such as the Braide Alte, the company's Gran Cru born from a blend of typical grapes of the area such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Picolit and Moscato and awarded with full marks from the great wine guides such as Gambero Rosso, the AIS guide and Bibenda. Another flagship product of the company is the Manditocai, pure Friulian Tocai with a pleasant almond finish and a salty base.

Ribolla Gialla is a typical grape of northeastern Italy vinified alone or in blend with the use of other grapes. Widely requested by consumers, it can be vinified as still wine or in the sparkling version. The first historical document concerning the appearance of the Ribolla Gialla dates back to 1296 with the name Rabola. The recent rediscovery of the Ribolla Gialla grape has allowed the experimentation of short macerations while the aromatic charge of the young Ribolla can be preserved with fast vinifications and immediate consumption that allow the perception of more distinct floral and mineral notes. With a fruity and floral nose that ranges from litchi to peach, from acacia to hay, Ribolla Gialla has a medium-high acidity and a medium body. The ageing of the Ribolla Gialla can take place in wood giving the wine oxidation and consequent spicy and iodized aromas that refine the body and color. The Collio DOC and Colli Orientali del Friuli appellations welcome the Ribolla Gialla in purity or in blend. For the Collio DOC appellation, Ribolla Gialla must be produced from vineyards covering at least 85% of the company total and have an alcoholic strength of at least 11% vol.
