Bisol 1542, Glera
Continuously present in the Valdobbiadene area for more than 5 centuries, Bisol is a company with a strong family dimension that passes down its historical experience from generation to generation. Following the First World War, the only event that temporarily halted the development of this winery, the first reference for this reality was Eliseo Bisol, with whom, in 1542, viticulture flourished again and a growth path aimed at absolute quality began, inspired by the prestige of Champagne.
Today Bisol extends over 20 farms immersed in the most suitable areas of the DOCG Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore, with plots that are sometimes very steep and difficult to work, but certainly the best for growing Glera, due to exposure and soil composition. The farm located at the top of the Cartizze hill, the most precious vineyard in Italy, represents the pinnacle of the quality of Prosecco, which finds its highest peak with the Desiderio Jeio line, inspired by the affectionate nickname “Jeio” with which the wife used to call her husband Desiderio Bisol, the result of a careful selection from the best vineyards of all the farms.
The Bisol product range also includes a Cru line, composed of labels obtained from a single estate, carefully selected and vinified, capable of revealing the uniqueness and character of each micro-zone in the glass.
The glera grape is famous for being the basis of Prosecco production. In reality, the introduction of the name glera to replace the ancient name of the Prosecco grape is quite recent and arises from a need for legislative protection and certainly not from ampelographic considerations. The operation had the sole purpose of safeguarding the Prosecco designation of origin, which could not be defended as long as the term was associated with a grape and not a specific production area.
It is a semi-aromatic variety spread for centuries in the Triveneto with different biotypes. The bunch is quite large with green berries with golden yellow reflections. It loves sunny hilly exposures, but with a cool and not too dry climate. The wine has a straw yellow color, with rather simple aromas of white fruit accompanied by some floral notes. In the mouth it is fresh and flowing, with good acidity and medium persistence. It is almost never vinified still. Its natural destination is linked to the production of sparkling wines with the Charmat method or sparkling wines sur lie according to the ancient tradition of the territory.
