Venica & Venica
Since 1930 the Venica & Venica winery has distinguished itself as one of the most important wineries in the province of Gorizia, thanks to its wines that exude the character and culture of the territory. Founded by Daniele Venica in the municipality of Dolegna del Collio, the company has 40 hectares of vineyards spread over different hills, each with its own microclimate that makes its wines unique. The company, now led by the brothers Giovanni and Giorgio, boasts four generations of winemakers who over the years have carried on their traditions, integrating them with new perspectives. Over time, in fact, Venica & Venica has always proved to be at the forefront in the use of technologies that guarantee environmental protection: since, in 2006, photovoltaic panels were introduced for the production of electricity and domestic hot water, up to the most recent years, when the first corporate sustainability report was published. Basing their work on a harmonious relationship between man and environment, the Venica family has created numerous award-winning wines, both by Italian and foreign critics. For example, the Ronco delle Mele Sauvignon Collio DOC and the Ronco delle Cime Friulano Collio DOC obtained the highest recognition of the Four Vines in the Seventh Edition of the “VITAE Italian Wines Guide”, conferred by the Italian Sommelier Association.
Venica & Venica white wine
With about 85% of the 40 hectares of vineyards planted with white grapes, Venica & Venica is recognized as one of the most renowned white wine cellars of the Collio and its wines are among the most awarded and well-known in Italy. The land of the company extends over the hills on the border between Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia, areas characterized by a remarkable pedoclimatic variety and by the so-called "Ponca" subsoil, consisting of stratified marl and sandstone that disintegrate giving life to a unique terrain , which gives the wines of this area notes of minerality and flavor. Thanks not only to the characteristics of the territory, but also to the continuous investment in scientific research and technical innovation, wines such as “Ronco delle Cime” Friulano, “L'Adelchi” Ribolla Gialla or “Pètris” Malvasia are obtained. In addition to these, we remember the "Ronco delle Mele" Sauvignon, the "Tàlis" Pinot Bianco, the "Ronco Bernizza" Chardonnay and many others.
What are the characteristics of Friulano Venica & Venica?
The “Ronco delle Cime” Friulano is one of the most important wines from the Venica & Venica farm, of which around 24,000 bottles are produced. A white with an intense color, with golden nuances, which was born in 1999 from the vineyard of the same name, located in the Cime area, a hilly area surrounded by woods and characterized by a variety of microclimates. It is a Cru that comes from Tocai Friulano grapes, grown at an average altitude of 200 m above sea level, hand-picked and de-stemmed during the Harvest. They are then cold macerated and fermentation takes place both in wooden barrels and in steel containers. On the nose, the Friulano Collio DOC presents fruity notes of pear, apple, white peach and banana, but also floral notes, all on an aftertaste of bitter almond. It is a perfectly balanced wine: fresh and with the right flavor, it is structured, full and enveloping. Thanks to its great drinkability, it is ideal for aperitifs, especially if with raw ham, but it can also be combined with shellfish, especially with cicadas and baked white meat dishes. Also excellent with porcini mushroom risotto. An excellence such as Ronco delle Cime has been awarded several times and also in 2020 received the highest scores from the most important wine guides.
