Tanqueray
In 1930, the brave Charles Tanqueray rejected a future already written and followed his inspiration, creating a recipe that would revolutionize the world: Gin Tanqueray , one of the most loved Gin ever. Since then, Gin Tanqueray continues to be produced in Scotland, at the Cameronbridge Distillery, the oldest grain distillery in Europe. Gin, however, was born in Holland in the 17th century, when a Dutch pharmacist found a remedy for stomach ailments, with a mixture of wheat alcohol and juniper berries. Thus was born Jenever, the ancestor of Gin. The therapeutic remedy based on alcohol and juniper soon became famous, so much so that it reached Great Britain, where it began to be imported and perfected, becoming an alcoholic drink.
Originally, an infusion of alcohol and juniper berry oil was used to produce Gin, the British who began to practice the direct infusion of juniper berries with lemon zest, orange, coriander and other botanicals. Thus was born London Dry Gin, a fragrant, dry and transparent variant of Dutch Jenever. From the 18th century, the consumption of Gin in England increased considerably, so much so that the government began to enact laws to stem it. The effect obtained was the opposite: clandestine distilleries began to proliferate and imports from Holland to England increased, until, in the Victorian age, Gin became a real social drink, in its variant. London Dry. London Gin is produced using neutral ethyl alcohol which is subsequently flavored with juniper berries, coriander, herbs, lemon peel, licorice, cardamom, cumin and almonds. The flavored brandy obtained is distilled again in the still, giving rise to the London Dry Gin, with no added sugar or less than 0.1g / l.
