Siddùra
The Siddùra winery, in the heart of Gallura, offers one of the most loved and well-known wines of Sardinia. The same territory of Gallura is famous both for its coasts, such as the Costa Smeralda, and for the characteristic inland locations, rich in oak and cork forests. Right in the historic center of Gallura, about 320 meters above sea level and at the foot of the Ghjuanni Mountains, is the characteristic medieval village of Luogosanto, where Siddùra is based with its loose and sometimes arid soils, perfect for viticulture. The culture of wine here is very ancient, precisely because the environment has always been favorable to this activity: the warm and dry Mediterranean climate, ventilated by the mild sea breezes, the perfect lighting of the hilly areas and the good temperature ranges allow perfect maturation. of the grapes. Siddùra has made the wine culture of the territory its own and has increased its fame, giving life to some of the excellences of Sardinia: Vermentino , symbol of the territory, but also Cannonau , Moscato , Cagnulari, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon . This variety of grapes is grown on mixed soils of granite, sand and clay, with different training methods: spurred cordon, guyot and sapling. All the vinification and aging operations take place in the cellar, which transform these precious grapes into wines of the highest quality.
Siddùra white wine
Siddùra white wines originate from the two white grape varieties of the company: Vermentino and Moscato. Vermentino is the most famous and appreciated vine in Sardinia, it grows on soils with good permeability and porosity and gives rise to wines with a strong structure, slightly bitter and mineral to the taste with strong hints of fruit. The Moscato di Sardegna DOC Passito grapes are instead left to dry on the plant, then harvested, vinified for a long time in steel and aged in the bottle. The result is a sweet wine with an amber yellow color, very bright and luminous, excellent for dessert.
What are the characteristics of Vermentino Siddura?
The Vermentino di Gallura DOCG produced by the Siddùra company is a wine obtained from grapes specifically of the Vermentino vine present in the Gallura area, in Sardinia. Siddùra has always cultivated its vines with a view to favoring quality over quantity, giving rise to excellences such as the Spèra Vermentino di Gallura DOCG Siddùra, the Maìa Vermentino di Gallura DOCG Superiore and the Bèru Vermentino di Gallura Superiore DOCG Limited Edition. Vermentino di Gallura Spèra, which means “beam of light”, with its straw yellow color with greenish reflections, opens to the nose with an intense aroma, characterized by delicate citrus notes. The taste remains dry and fresh, with good flavor and a long persistence. Maìa, or “magic”, was the first wine produced by Siddùra. Its grapes are de-stemmed, allowed to cool, then left to macerate at a low temperature before being pressed. It is a fresh and savory wine, which closes in the mouth with an almond finish, while the nose is fruity, aromatic and delicate. Finally, the Bèru, comes from grapes selected with the utmost care and harvested by hand. Once de-stemmed, they are left to macerate for a few hours and then pressed. Fermentation is slow and takes place in French oak barrels. The resulting wine has elegant golden reflections, it is very fine and intense on the nose. A full-bodied wine, soft and with a strong minerality, award-winning by Italian and international critics. All three Vermentinis are available on Vino.com.
