Samalens
Among the best known names of Armagnac internationally, Samalens was born in 1882 by its founder Jean, son of a family of coopers and distillers, who decided to perpetuate the ancient tradition. We are located in the small village of Laujuzan, south of Bordeaux, where the Grand Cru vineyards of the Bas Armagnac region reside. Samalens only produces Bas Armagnac. The house has 8 stills, 4 with more than a century of age, of the Charentais type, with double distillation, and 4 of the traditional Armagnacais type, with continuous distillation. The aging phase takes place in Gascon oak barrels whose staves are hand-cut by the Samalens “dogatori” themselves. A sophisticated process that makes it possible to produce particularly round and elegant armagnacs. Among the production gems we find sumptuous armagnacs and old reserves, such as the Veille Relique and the Bas Armagnac XO, but also valuable vintage wines capable of satisfying even the most demanding palates.
