Ron Zacapa
Ron Zacapa was born in 1976 to celebrate the centenary of the city of Zacapa, located south of Guatemala on a soil of volcanic origin, lapped by rivers and rich in minerals. For 35 years, Ron Zacapa's Master Blender has been Lorena Vásquez, one of the few women in the world to carry out this complex and exciting profession. For her, the work of Master Blender is an art and a way of life, so much so that her constant search for the best ingredients of Guatemala has favored Ron Zacapa's reputation internationally.
Rum Zacapa
Rum Zacapa is produced with the first squeezing of virgin sugar cane, while the aging process takes place following the classic Solera Method. The authenticity of the aromas and the harmonious taste of Rum Zacapa derive from raw materials of the highest quality. The use of the first squeezing of virgin sugar cane gives sweet and velvety notes to the rum. The subsequent fermentation involves the use of yeasts deriving from pineapple which enhance the aromatic profile, while the distillation enriches the gustatory profile. At this point begins the journey of Rum Zacapa, which reaches up to 2300 meters above sea level, where the mountain air and the cool climate combined with aging with the Solera method, which involves moving the Rum inside barrels different both in type and toasting (American white oak ex Whiskey, European oak ex Cognac or Sherry), will enrich it by giving it even more complex aromas and flavors.
What are the characteristics of the Ron Zacapa XO?
Ron Zacapa XO is obtained by blending hand-selected rums aged from 6 to 25 years in French oak barrels ex Cognac, following the Solera method. In turn, each of the selected rums was subjected to aging in ex Whiskey, ex Sherry and ex Pedro Ximénez barrels. This complexity of woods enriches Ron Zacapa XO with notes of burnt caramel, toasted nuts, orange peel and marzipan that make it perfect both smooth and with ice. Zacapa XO is a persistent and velvety rum, with recognizable notes of vanilla, chocolate and cinnamon and a finish with hints of ginger.
