Ridolfi
The Ridolfi family is a historic Tuscan family, present in Florence since the thirteenth century. Always linked to the lands of the region, the Sienese branch of the family owned vineyards in the most precious areas of Tuscany for wine, in particular in the famous area of Montalcino and on the hills of Larciano, west of the city of Florence. Today the properties are managed by the Peretti family, which continues to produce wines in the wake of the most ancient traditions of the territory, capable of authentically expressing the best excellences of highly suited places. The Ridolfi company headquarters is located in Mercatali, which takes its name from the ancient custom of the place, to host an important and historic agricultural market. The winery is not far from the famous Strada del Brunello, at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level. The property covers a total of 30 hectares, of which just over 11 sangiovese grosso vines to produce Brunello di Montalcino, another 7 hectares destined to the production of Chianti dei Colli Senese and Rosso di Montalcino and the rest to olive groves cultivated with the Correggiolo cultivar. . The vineyards are located on the north-east side of the famous Montalcino hill, in a particularly suitable area.
Most of the vineyards in production are about 15 years old and have been planted with Sangiovese grosso clones, particularly suitable for the production of long aging wines. Tenuta Rocchetto is located, instead, in the Chianti area, in a wonderful hilly area at an altitude between 60 and 200 meters above sea level. The total area is 22 hectares, of which 5 are vineyards and the rest is used for olive groves. The vines are cultivated under organic farming, in full respect of nature, without the use of chemicals and with treatments based only on copper and sulfur, to combat mildew and powdery mildew and applying the practices of sexual confusion to combat moths. The philosophy of the winery has always been guided by the desire to make quality wines, which knew how to represent the territory in the best possible way. The suitable soils, a cool, mild and always breezy climate, constitute an ideal habitat for Sangiovese and more generally for red grape varieties, both native and international. The estate has been enhanced with careful management, which involves parcel vinification of individual vineyards. A choice that allowed to highlight the peculiarities of each small area, in order to create wines capable of faithfully and authentically expressing the terroir. The work in the cellar is carried out with minimal interventions, with the utmost respect for high quality grapes.
