" This is the motto of Diego Planeta, protagonist of the Sicilian wine renaissance, thanks to the collaboration of experts such as Giacomo Tachis, Carlo Corino, Giampaolo Fabris and Attilio Scienza.

Diego played a fundamental role in making his company, founded around 1500 into what it is today: a winery that embodies not just one, but six ways of interpreting and expressing the Sicilian territory; in fact, there are many estates in which wine is produced, each with its own specific research and enhancement project. Through its wines, the company proposes itself as a journey through Sicily , rich in innovative and contemporary contents, but always consistent with a historical interpretation of the territory.

The Ulmo estate represents the real beating heart of the company: it is here that the dream began, from those first 50 hectares, in a place that presented itself as a palette of shapes and colors, a real laboratory in which to experiment. From here began the journey in search of native varieties, with maps of ancient books that told stories of ghost wines that led to destinations such as Menfi, Vittoria, then Noto, Etna and finally Capo Milazzo.

At the base there has always been an idea, that of producing every wine in its territory, respecting and enhancing it thanks to an economically sustainable, ecologically careful, socially fair viticulture, in order to truly interpret and tell it in a unique way.

Planeta white wine

Planeta is famous above all for its white wine, with Chardonnay and Cometa which were the first to make Sicily known to the whole world. It is precisely in Menfi, in the historic estate of the Ulmo heart of the company, that the first vineyards were planted, and here some of the most representative wines were born: from Chardonnay , symbol of Planeta production and of the wine rebirth of Sicily, to Cometa , a great white from southern Italy, the result of experimentation on Fiano, from Alastro that best expresses the characteristics of a millenary native vine such as Grecanico , up to La Segreta, a faithful companion of daily good drinking. A range of wines that demonstrates how Sicily is not only Syrah , Frappato and Nero d'Avola , which are also present in the Planeta range.
