Passopisciaro
Certainly among the pioneers of the Etna reality - today loved and celebrated all over the world - Andrea Franchetti decides to start his business already in the early 2000s, restoring an ancient beam in Passopisciaro, around the town of Castiglione di Sicilia. The company is located at an altitude of about one thousand meters, where the temperature range is significant and the minerally rich terroir is characterized by frequent lava flows.
With these ideal conditions, Andrea cultivates the Nerello Mascalese grapes, and to a lesser extent Chardonnay, Petit Verdot and Cesanese di Affile, distributed in 26 hectares of vineyards located on the northern slope of the volcano. Passopisciaro wines are thus among the best known and recognized of the entire Etna landscape, true symbols of the refinement and value that the grapes of this extraordinary volcanic terroir so much discussed and appreciated can reach.
