Niepoort
Family-run business founded in 1842 in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, by the Dutchman Franciscus Marius Niepoort. It owes much of its popularity to Eduard Dirk Niepoort, the fifth generation, who did his best to make known the uniqueness and quality of his Port and Douro wines. Having joined the company at the age of 23 together with his father, Dirk was the bearer of an innovative spirit that found his first realization in the purchase of his own vineyards, Quinta de Nápoles and Quinta do Carril, in the Douro Cima Corgo region, from which traditionally come the best Port wines. Over time Niepoort has particularly distinguished itself for the production of high-level tawnies, curated by Master Blender José Nogueira.
