Monkey 47
Known and now appreciated by connoisseurs of every country, Monkey 47 is a German gin distillery, which was born in the Schwarzwald - the Black Forest. The history of the company and its brand dates back to Montgomery Collins, who was an officer in the Royal Air Force during World War II. Collins, sent to Germany shortly after the conflict, undertook the reconstruction of many buildings in Berlin, including the zoo, where he is said to have met the monkey who later became the distillery's mascot. Having moved permanently near Strasbourg, Collins concentrated on the production of gin, which however was not very successful and was rediscovered only several years later when Alexander Stein, with the help of the famous distiller Christoph Keller, decided to resume the story of Collins to create today's Monkey 47 brand, produced by Black Forest Distillers. Starting from Collins' recipe, who had selected 47 different aromas for his gin, Stein and Keller were able to enhance an absolutely innovative product, creating a gin with a thousand shades, which is among the most popular of its kind.
