Moët & Chandon
The history of the Maison Moët & Chandon began in 1743 with the initiative of Claude Moët who started the distribution of Champagne outside the regional borders. The increase in requests and the fame of famous people such as Madame de Pompadour, Napoleon and Thomas Jefferson will make this Champagne increasingly popular and appreciated in the world. Towards the middle of the 19th century, the appearance of Pierre Gabrielle Chandon defines the new name of the Maison in Moët & Chandon. Over time, Moët & Chandon Champagne will assume the connotations of a refined and luxury product precisely by virtue of the processing practices to generate in the collective imagination the idea of an exclusive consumer good suitable for special occasions. With more than 600 ht, today Moët & Chandon is the international reference for quality Champagne and with 24 million bottles the Maison perfectly embodies the refined tastes of enthusiasts and connoisseurs. Among the most successful brands, in addition to Dom Perignon , there is certainly the Brut Imperial, the result of a selection of over 100 wines of which at least 20% represented by reserve wines. For the creation of the Moët & Chandon Champagne, the three main vines of the region are used, namely Pinot Noir , which gives body and consistency; Pinot Meunier , suitable for giving softness and pleasantness; Chardonnay to embellish with freshness and acidity. The production method is defined as the champenoise method or classic method for the assembly of different base wines which, through a second fermentation in the bottle, give the sparkling wine obtained the typical hints of yeast, bread crust, custard, impossible to find with the Charmat method. In fact, most of these aromas depend on the dispersion of the substances contained in the yeasts after the end of the activity that they continued to carry out as a second fermentation with the inclusion of the liqueur de tirage. The long aging of the wine in contact with the yeasts is the reason for high costs and the achievement of an unparalleled qualitative depth on the organoleptic level. Examples are Champagne Brut AOC Resérve Impériale Moët & Chandon or Champagne Demi-Sec AOC Nectar Imperiál Moët & Chandon which refine 36 months on the lees. A shorter refinement is foreseen for Champagne Brut AOC Impérial Moët & Chandon, while with Champagne Extra Brut AOC Grand Vintage 2013 Moët & Chandon it reaches 7 years of refinement.
The prestige of Moët & Chandon Champagne
Thanks to a history full of illustrious personalities and unforgettable moments, Champagne Moët & Chandon has represented the fascinating background of many meetings and famous events. It is no coincidence that the first veneration for Champagne Moët & Chandon was expressed at the court of Louis XV by Madame de Pompadour, lover of the king and, even before that, of Champagne, an emblem of ease and refinement which, at least in his opinion, he retained miraculous gifts for the care of the body and the exaltation of good manners. For this reason, with a production tradition that looks to the great successes of the past but that looks forward thanks to continuous challenges and technological improvements, it is always possible to classify the Moët & Chandon brand as a prestigious emblem of refinement and an ideal and elegant complement for every unforgettable occasion. This exclusivity is also confirmed by the inclusion of Vintage Champagne which since 1842 have marked an opening towards the excellence and exclusivity of vintage products.
