Meerlust
Meerlust is a historic South African winery, located near the city of Stellenbosch, in that area which is among the most suitable and famous for viticulture in the country. Founded in 1756 by the Myburgh family, the company has now reached the eighth generation of winemakers, bound by the sole objective of producing wines of the highest quality. The Meerlust vineyards are mainly divided into the varieties of Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Thanks to a combination of terroir and a truly unique climate; the first composed of clayey layers of alluvial origin and granite, the second consisting of a refreshing sea wind and rather mild temperatures, all the conditions are created for a truly remarkable quality of the grapes, which translates into wines that are the essence same of the South African terroir, not too distant relatives of the great French from which they derive.
