Larmandier-Bernier
Since the 19th century, the Larmandier family has tended vines in Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards of the Côte des Blancs, contributing to the reputation of the champagnes produced there. This region manages to produce champagnes characterized by an elegant minerality due to the chalky component of its soils, a characteristic that can only be found elsewhere near the famous Reims Mountain. We are talking about the Grand Cru vineyards of Cramant, Chouilly, Avize and Oger, and the Premier Cru Vertus vineyard.
In 1971, Philippe Larmandier took as his wife Elisabeth Bernier who at the time owned vineyards in Vertus, joining forces and giving rise to Larmandier-Bernier Champagne. Since 1999, the maison has set itself the goal of creating champagne capable of faithfully expressing their terroir of origin, driven by the belief that a great champagne is born first and foremost in the vineyard. For this reason the maison decided to adhere to the principles of biodynamic viticulture and always chose to follow a winemaking process that was as natural as possible. Clear examples of this are the fermentation by indigenous yeasts and the prolonged maturation in wood in which the base wine has the opportunity to oxygenate and express itself fully. The resulting champagnes are unique: mature, mineral, pure and so intimate with their terroir of origin.
