La Torre
It was the spring of 1976 when the Calabrian Giuseppe Anania bought the La Torre farm from the historic Ciacci family, in Montalcino. Located in the municipality of La Sesta, with one of the highest altitudes of the entire Brunello appellation, it housed a ruin of a farmhouse on top of a hill. According to a legend, a tower was built next to the house in whose foundations gold was kept: part of the Sassetti family, then owner of the estate, destroyed the tower and fled to Florence with the gold. Today gold is metaphorically represented by the wine produced by Giuseppe's son, Luigi Anania, who followed up a precious tradition by continuing to produce great Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino. The last creation of the winery is the Ampeleio, whose name recalls the ancient peasant toponymy now in danger of extinction, produced in memory of a peasant friend, a virtuous example of care of the vine.
