La Mozza
La Mozza is a winery owned by Joe and Lidia Bastianich, supported by the well-known chef Mario Bartali. It is located in the splendid setting of the Tuscan Maremma, more precisely in the south-west part, in Magliano di Grosseto, about 12 kilometers from the Tyrrhenian Sea. This area, drier than the foggy hills of central Tuscany, with the island of Elba that protects the estate's vineyards from the main wind currents and thins the rains, ensures that the ripening of the grapes starts from the early dawn and the sun illuminates the vine plants with its rays until the last hours of sunset.
Warm climate vines such as Syrah and Alicante find in this area the ideal conditions to thrive, as well as Sangiovese which here is characterized by a lower acidity in favor of a more pronounced cherry note. The philosophy behind all wine production is to restore light to the Maremma terroir that has too often remained in the background. Today, thanks to the Bastianich family, the winery can boast a reputation that made it known in the United States but also in Singapore.
