Jean Tardy & Fils
The Jean Tardy & Fils domaine stands as an embodiment of the high Burgundian winemaking craftsmanship that gravitates around Vosne-Romanée. The founder, Jean Tardy, began his career as a sharecropper at the prestigious Domaine Mèo Camuzet, gaining experience that would lead him to the independent management of fine rented vineyards such as Nuits St Georges 1er Cru “Aux Boudots”, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru “Les Chaumes”, and the grandiose Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot. Since 1981, Jean has expanded his domaine, managing to acquire additional parcels located within the appellations of Chambolle Musigny, Nuits Saint Georges, Vosne Romanée, Fixin and Gevrey, culminating in the addition of the Grand Cru Echézeaux in 2002. Since 2003 his son Guillaume, trained in oenology also through international experiences such as the one he had in Australia at Domaine Picardy, leads the estate under the supervision of his father, bringing innovation and projecting the domaine towards a future of oenological excellence.
Respect for the soil and the vineyard is undisputed, through the use of only natural compounds and the exclusion of synthetic chemical products. The objective is to obtain bunches that have reached full maturity, even at the cost of adopting thinning practices and resorting to green harvesting; in this way the sugars and aromatic substances are concentrated, also ensuring a very high quality of the grapes. The utmost care taken in the subsequent winemaking process allows the expressive integrity of each terroir to be preserved as much as possible. The limited production, less than 23,000 bottles from just over 4 hectares, makes the wines of Domaine Jean Tardy & Fils objects of desire among wine lovers and enthusiasts, especially among exponents of haute cuisine, which include illustrious names such as Alain Ducasse . With just a few bottles available annually, it represents an exclusive opportunity to savor a unique fragment of Burgundy.
