Fèlsina red wine
Among the various types of red wine produced by Fèlsina we find the Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia. The name of the Rancia vineyard comes from the farm located on the pre-existing Benedictine monastery. The vines are grown on a soil of calcareous origin, located between 350 and 400 meters above sea level, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga. The grapes used to produce the Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia are harvested manually and the resulting wines are characterized by an intense ruby red color, spicy notes and red fruits. Rancia is a red wine with a soft, engaging palate and velvety tannins. Another interesting red wine produced by Fèlsina is Fontalloro. It is a Tuscan IGT wine, obtained from grapes from the vineyards of the Poggio al Sole and Arcidossino farms, located in the highest area of Fèlsina between 330 and 407 meters above sea level, where the soil is particularly rocky and calcareous and in the Chianti Colli Senesi appellation, on a sandy soil rich in marine sediments. Also for the Fontalloro IGT the grapes are harvested and selected by hand. The result is a red wine with an intense ruby color, notes of tobacco and black currant, a full-bodied, long-lived palate and balanced tannins. The fortunate position of Fèlsina, with its vineyards located in Chianti Classico areas with very different soils, has allowed the production of a second type of Chianti Classico: the Berardenga Chianti Classico and the Berardenga Chianti Classico Riserva. The latter is a very interesting red wine because it is produced with the best grapes from the vineyards of Castelnuovo Berardenga, whose soil is very heterogeneous, oriented to the south-west and located at an altitude ranging from 320 to 420 meters above the level. of the sea. Berardenga is also a noteworthy red wine, for its spicy and mineral nature, the intense notes of wild berries, the important structure and the soft tannins.
