Cormòns
The Cantina Produttori Cormòns was born at the end of the sixties, from the meeting of some Cormonese winemakers wishing to lead the winemaking tradition of Friuli Venezia Giulia towards the future. Today Cormòns includes more than 120 families of winemakers who continue to produce wine while respecting and enhancing the territory. Under the sign of encounter and harmony, the Cormòns producer members have conceived a production philosophy attentive to environmental sustainability and the value of quality. Cormòns wines are produced following the production regulations of different denominations of origin: Collio DOC , Friuli DOC , Friuli Isonzo DOC and Friuli Colli Orientali DOC . Collio DOC wines are produced in the Collio area, a crescent-shaped area that extends from Gorizia to Dolegna and is bordered to the north by the border with Slovenia. The heart of the Collio is Cormòns, considered the capital of Friulian wine. Collio wines have been appreciated since the Middle Ages, when they were tasted in the most important courts of Europe: in Vienna, Moscow and England. The land of the Collio area is called Flysch, it is characterized by the presence of sandstone, marl, limestone, potassium and phosphorus, elements that make it crumbling and that have allowed the development of a real terraced viticulture, which today characterizes the Collio landscape. The production area that falls within the DOC Friuli extends, on the other hand, over the entire territory of Friuli Venezia Giulia, while the area where the Friuli Isonzo DOC wines are produced is a fertile plain crossed by the Isonzo river, which originates in the Julian Alps. and flows to the sea of Grado. Here high quality white and red wines are produced. As for the Friuli Colli Orientali DOC denomination, the production area is identified with a strip of land belonging to the province of Udine, with a millenary winemaking tradition and with the city of Cividale in the center, with a historic and glorious past. The soils of this area are characterized by marl and sandstone, essential for an excellent development of the vine, thanks to the high presence of limestone, potassium and phosphorus.
