Clos des Papes
History as long as it is important is that of Clos De Papes, which is located in the AOC Châteauneuf-du-pape area, in the southern Rhone valley. In fact, Paul Avril, who began selling his wines under the name of Clos de Papes in 1896, was also one of the figures around whom the Châteauneuf-du-pape appellation was born. With a tradition handed down from father to son, the company has distinguished itself in the region as one of the most prolific and still produces among the highest quality Châteauneuf-du-pape rouge. The vineyards extend over 34 hectares of property, in 24 separate plots, all in the municipality of the homonymous appellation: 4 hectares are destined for Close de Papes Blanc, while the rest are for the production of grapes such as Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and other vines permitted by the specification. All the vineyards have been certified organic since 2011. The diversity of soils and vineyards are the strength and the distinctive feature of Châteauneuf-du-pape rouge, a wine and a brand that are now famous and appreciated all over the world.
