Château Cheval Blanc
Château Cheval Blanc is one of the most important and renowned production companies in the entire Bordeaux area. We are located in the western part of Saint-Émilion, towards the border with Pomerol, within a geographical area where the cultivation of the vine has very ancient roots. A winery that over the centuries has experienced magical moments, which reach their peak in 1954, when it was classified as “Premier Grand Cru Classé A”, an acknowledgment that only very few other Château could boast of. Thanks to a unique soil, which alternates thin layers of clay with coarser gravel formations, crossed by sand formations. Here 39 hectares of vineyards are divided into 45 plots, each of which is treated separately, so as to ensure respect for each specific characteristic of the individual terroir.
Three varieties of grapes are grown between the rows, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and a pinch of Cabernet Sauvignon, which give life to the legendary “Cheval Blanc” and to the second wine made by the winery, the “Petit Cheval Blanc”. Château Cheval Blanc was owned by the Laussac-Fourcaud family until 1998, the year in which it was purchased by the LVMH group, a global giant that in recent decades has turned its attention to the excellence of wine. The new management has been very careful in keeping the same team both in the vineyard and in the cellar, aware that in these lands it is tradition that makes the difference. Today Château Cheval Blanc is an extremely noble reality, which gives life to mythological wines, collectible for those who love to invest in the world of wine, or a memorable drink for those who want to immediately indulge in the luxury of unforgettable bottles.
