Château du Breuil
We are in Normandy, a land with an enviable culinary tradition, based mainly on local products: salted butter, cheeses, shellfish, apples. From the best quality ones comes Calvados Pays d'Auge AOC, a calvados which, unlike the common one, is obtained from the cider produced exclusively in the Pays d'Auge area, and through a double distillation. Normandy is also the land of picturesque half-timbered houses and castles. The Château du Breuil was built between the 16th and 17th centuries and belonged to great families of the Norman nobility such as the Bouquetots, the Montgommerys, the young Tancrède de Rohan and the Bences. After a skilful restoration, the castle became a place for distillation for three generations. The apple cider used for the production of Calvados Pays d'Auge of Château du Breuil is obtained from the apples of the proprietary orchards, which thanks to a mild and humid climate and clayey soil ideal for cultivation, harvest apples of the best quality at the perfect stage of ripeness. Aging takes place only in carefully selected oak barrels for the important effect they have on the quality of the finished product.
