Château de Tracy
Château de Tracy is a domaine rich in history and traditions, located in the territory of the famous French Appellation Pouilly Fumé, in the heart of the Loire Valley vineyard. Its origins are very ancient and even date back to the fourteenth century. Château de Tracy still represents an important point of reference for the whole area and its wines are recognized as an absolute level of excellence. The estate is located at the foot of the ancient Château, built on a spur of rock overlooking the Loire. The Domaine has spanned the centuries maintaining its family character, linked to the dynasty of the Counts of Assay. Today at the helm of the company is Juliette d'Assay who carries on the business following the most ancient traditions. The philosophy of the domaine is oriented to the production of wines faithful to the terroir, through a viticulture cared for with passion and vinifications that allow to enhance the particular character of the Sauvignon Blanc of this famous territory. The Pouilly Fumé of Château de Tracy is produced only with grapes from its own vineyards, grown in an area with unique characteristics.
The Pouilly Fumé vineyard covers a total of 1,200 hectares, right in the heart of France. The climate is cool and continental, mitigated by the presence of the Loire. The soils are particularly valuable, mainly composed of clays rich in silica stones, pebbles and calcareous marls formed by the sedimentation of the shells of small kimméridgien oysters. These are soils that allow the Sauvignon Blanc grape to express itself with extraordinary finesse, elegance and with a particular note of mineral freshness, reminiscent of flint and smoky sensations. The wines of Chateau de Tracy have a strong personality, which reflects the characteristics of the various places of origin. Those of the silex areas are vertical, taut and deep, those of the limestone areas are intense, rich and elegant. The blending of the two wines, with complementary characteristics, allows to obtain a Sauvignon Blanc of great complexity and charm. The vines are managed with respect for nature, with grassy inter-rows, treatments reduced to a minimum and without resorting to insecticides or herbicides. The cultivation with low yields allows to obtain grapes of excellent quality, ripe and with very rich and concentrated aromas. This is how high-end labels are born, an authentic expression of a great terroir.
