Castello di Albola
The Castello di Albola, located near Radda in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, has ancient origins dating back to the early 11th century. The estate has long been disputed by many Tuscan noble families, from the Acciaioli to the Samminiati, from the Pazzi to the Ginori Conti. Since 1979 the estate has been owned by the Zonin family, who renovated both the medieval building of the castle and all the surrounding land, including the vineyards, which have been brought to a higher quality level.
To date, the lands of the Castello di Albola extend for over 900 hectares, of which 150 are planted with vines, above a typically Tuscan soil consisting mainly of Alberese stone and galestro. The cultivated varieties are obviously Sangiovese, which constitutes 90% of the company's Chianti Classico production, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Canaiolo and a small part of Chardonnay and Malvasia del Chianti - the latter destined for the production of Vinsanto. From now historic vineyards such as Vigna il Solatio, Ellere or Acciaiolo, the Chianti Classico of the Castello di Albola are born, which have now become synonymous with quality for many lovers of this wine.
