Casanova di Neri
In Montalcino viticulture has ancient origins, which date back to the Etruscan civilization, and the first written records of this estate date back to 814, when a written document of the Holy Roman Empire certifies the ownership of the estate to the Abbot of Sant'Antimo. The current history of the Casanova di Neri winery was born in 1971 from the dream of Giovanni Neri, who abandoned his business as a grain merchant in Montevarchi to follow his passion for wine. Good luck awaits him in Montalcino, where the Casanova farm is for sale, a 200-hectare estate, whose red wine represents a marginal part of the business and is sold in bulk. A unique opportunity that Giovanni did not miss, immediately realizing the great potential of the territory for the creation of long-lived and deep wines and immediately starting to plant new Sangiovese vines. The property is enriched with new vineyards such as Cerretalto, Cetine (which gives life to the famous Tenute Nuove) and Podernuovo.
Brunello di Montalcino Casanova di Neri
Casanova di Neri is famous all over the world for its award-winning Brunello di Montalcino , and reaches the pinnacle of its success in 2007, when the Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova 2001 is awarded Wine of the Year by Wine Spectator with a score of 100 / 100. A sensational milestone, considering that this is the third Italian winery to be able to count the coveted award, since 1988. However, this is the first success of a long series: the following year to receive the 100 points from Wine Spectator is the Brunello Cerretalto, followed by 100 points by James Suckling - for Tenuta Nuova 2006, Cerretalto 2010 and Cerretalto 2015 -, by Robert Parker - with Tenuta Nuova 2010 and Cerretalto 2010 - by Wine Enthusiast - with Cerretalto 2007 and finally also by Falstaff - with Cerretalto 2012.
Casanova di Neri red wine
Casanova di Neri red wine is born today from 7 magnificent vineyards located in the various areas of the Montalcino appellation: Fiesole, Cerretalto, Collalli, Podernuovo, Pietradonice, Giovanni Neri and Cetine. The Casanova di Neri grapes are the product of a mass selection of Sangiovese Grosso obtained from the Cerretalto vineyard and of a long reproduction process. This clone, planted in each of our vineyards, gives different results on each side, which with aging in the cellar in large wooden vats and resting in the bottle, turns into unique masterpieces in the world.
