Casalfarneto
Casalfarneto winery is located in the Marche region, in the heart of the splendid landscape of the Castles of Jesi. It was founded in 1995 by four partners with previous experience in the world of wine, who decided to join forces and start a new adventure together. The project began with the purchase of a farmhouse and a vineyard, with the aim of cultivating and enhancing the qualities of Verdicchio, the classic grape variety of the area. The Togni group bought the winery in 2005 and in 2017 Casalfarneto separated from the family business to continue its independent path, with the aim of continuing to produce quality wines faithful to the territory. Casalfarneto is located in the wonderful hilly area, which gently slopes from the Apennine ridge towards the coast of the Adriatic coast. The Mediterranean climate, warm and always breezy, thanks to the presence of sea breezes, and the soils of limestone and clay, have for centuries been an ideal habitat for growing white grapes. The vineyards are located at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level, in a border area between Valmisa and Vallesina, which has always been the cradle of the Verdicchio grape, one of the most interesting grapes of our ampelographic heritage for its expressive balance and longevity. . The estate covers a total area of 60 hectares, of which 28 are planted with green trees and 7 are reserved for red berried grapes, in particular for the native montepulciano, sangiovese and international merlot, cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot, which have settled particularly well in the Marche. The vineyards are managed with particular care and attention and a part of the vineyard is already managed under a certified organic farming system, in full respect of the territory. The winery was originally composed of three farmhouses, which were then transformed into a new architecture perfectly inserted in the green. It is a large and functional space, equipped with the most modern technologies, placed at the service of tradition. Despite the modernization work, the vinifications are still carried out trying to intervene as little as possible, in order to maintain the integrity of a raw material of excellent quality and the varietal identity of each grape. The main effort was made on Verdicchio, a true icon vine of the Marche. It is a grape that manages to interpret the best characteristics of the place and to express in the glass the authentic and Mediterranean face of a great terroir with intense, fruity, savory and very long-lived whites.
