Carpano
Carpano is one of the historical brands of our country, a true symbol and ambassador of the Italian lifestyle in the world. Its origins date back to Turin in 1786. After completing his studies in herbal medicine, Antonio Benedetto Carpano demonstrates his creative talent by inventing the original recipe for Vermouth. Starting from the ancient historical traditions of aromatized wines, he decides to use a base of Piedmontese Moscato wine, to which he adds a selection of botanicals and spices by infusion. His small artisan workshop was located right in the heart of Turin, opposite the Royal Palace. Confident of the goodness of his new creation and thanks to a very enterprising spirit, Antonio Benedetto Carpano decides to send a case of his flavored wine as a tribute to the Royal House. Vermouth immediately met the taste of Vittorio Amedeo III and from that moment it became a fashionable drink, which conquered the habits of the Turin aristocracy.
Soon the notoriety and success of Vermouth spread throughout Turin to the point of becoming the most sought after aperitif in the city. In 1820, Giuseppe Bernardino Carpano, Antonio's nephew, transformed the small craft shop into a real company, creating the "Giuseppe Carpano Liquor and Vermouth Factory". Within a few years, Vermouth Carpano became established throughout Italy thanks to its original taste, its intense and elegant perfumes and aromas. After the interruption due to the outbreak of the First World War, the business resumed with renewed enthusiasm with the acquisition of the company by the Turati family of Turin industrialists. The expansion of the Carpano company coincides with the creation of some pioneering advertising campaigns, which have now entered the history of our company. Thanks to the creativity of artists such as Mauzan and Dudovich, the image of Vermouth becomes a true icon of a style The expansion of the company continued after World War II with the acquisition of the historical brand Caffè Sport Borghetti and with the subsequent acquisition of the group Carpano by the Branca Distilleries. Despite a long history and many changes in ownership, Carpano has always remained faithful to ancient traditions and its precious original recipes. The labels of Casa Carpano still represent the history of the Italian aperitif par excellence, with Vermouth and Bitter with an unmistakable taste.
