Cardhu
The Cardhu Distillery, which was originally called Cardow, sits atop the hills on the north side of the Spey Valley in Scotland's Moray region of the Highlands. The business was founded in 1824 by John and Helen Cumminmgs and in almost two centuries of history it passed ownership several times: also purchased by the Johnnie Walker company, it recently became part of the Diageo group. Currently the distillery has 10 whiskey aging vats, 8 of which are in wood and 2 in steel, as well as 3 pairs of stills that allow it to distil well over 3 million liters of whiskey per year, making the distillery, one of the most prolific in Scotland.
