Bowmore
On the island of Islay, famous for being the Scottish homeland of whiskey, is the city of Bowmore, which is the birthplace of the homonymous distillery, the oldest on the island. Founded in 1779 by John Simpson, the company stands out clearly between rocky gulfs and desolate bays, on the shore of Loch Indaal, where the icy waves of the North Sea impart a slightly brackish character to these whiskeys. Fruit of the blend of adamantine water from the Laggan River with smoked barley on the Malting Floor, Bowmore whiskey ages in fine oak barrels. A further note of value is given by the aging, which takes place in the oldest whiskey warehouse in the world, the legendary "N ° 1 Vaults", the only one below sea level. Here, where darkness and cold perennially reign, Bowmore's Scotch Whiskeys ripen.
