At Bolgheri, the sea influence has always been crucial for growing international grapes varieties and for Tenuta Le Colonne is the hallmark for wines capable of preserving and fully exalting this specific microclimate.
The flagship wine is the Bolgheri, a fine blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, a wine with hints of red fruits, herbs and flowers, but it is also spicy and toasty. This wine matures in French oak barrels for 12 months and the following 3 months in the bottle. In the Bolgheri Superiore (94 pts Parker), on the other hand, the tannin becomes more structured and the sip more persistent with notes of leather and coffee completing a soft and measured flavour. However, the influence of the sea is remarkably evident in the Vermentino, the right combination of creaminess and savouriness that is preserved in a fine example of a versatile white wine that can be paired with all sorts of meals.
